Japan Rail Kyushu Region pass

The Kyushu Rail Pass is available for travel either throughout the Kyushu area or a selected Northern Kyushu area. Explore Kyushu and its many sightseeing destinations such as Beppu's hot spring resorts, Mt. Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture, and Sakurajima, the active volcano in Kagoshima.

Choose between a Kyushu Rail Pass to explore all of Kyushu or just a selected Northern Kyushu area.
Travel aboard the Kyushu Shinkansen's Tsubame, the pride of JR Kyushu, and the Sonic, a limited express. Ticket holders can also travel on any Kyushu Railway Co. train.
The Kyushu Rail Passes are valid only in the areas covered by each pass. The Northern Kyushu Area Rail Pass is not valid on Shinkansen Tsubame trains.
Allows you to explore by hopping on and off the trains as you wish.

We make a £15 cover charge per booking and will then send you an exchange voucher so you are all prepared for your travels. Collecting your Japan Kyushu railpass on arrival in Japan is easy, and the collection locations can be found here. Please remember, it is not possible to purchase Japan rail passes when you are there!

Conditions of use

Only the person whose name is inscribed on the face of the pass can use it.
The holder must carry a valid passport when using the pass.
The pass can be used on limited express trains of the Kyushu Railway Co., in ordinary reserved and non-reserved seating, and on ordinary trains of the Kyushu Railway Co. in the designated area for the pass. The All Kyushu Area Rail Pass can also be used for Kyushu Shinkansen "bullet" trains.
The pass cannot be used on sleeper trains, the Sanyo Shinkansen "bullet" train, or JR Kyushu buses.
If the holder travels on a Green Car, the Green Car charge will be assessed in addition to the ordinary express charge. The pass cannot be used for private compartments.
The pass cannot be used for fares on connecting or other train lines not operated by Kyushu Railway Co.
The holder will be required to pay applicable fares incurred as a result of riding beyond the designated area for this pass.
No refund can be made even if there are no available reserved seats and the holder must use non-reserved seating.
The validity period cannot be changed for any reason after the pass has been issued. The pass cannot be converted into or exchanged for any other type of pass or train ticket.

REFUNDS:
Refunds can be applied on vouchers that have not been exchanged, where a 10% penalty applies. Exchanged vouchers are 100% non refundable. No refund can be made for any reason after the first date of use. A Kyushu Rail Pass cannot be refunded or extended due to interruptions in train service, late departures or any other reasons.

FEES AND CHARGES:
This pass does not guarantee the bearer a seat. Seat reservations may be made at Midori-no-Madoguchi, a travel agency or JR Kyushu Travel Agency. Reservations are free, but must be made in advance.

LOST TICKETS:
E-ticket and PASSES cannot be reissued if it is lost or stolen.

How to Exchange your E-ticket
Exchange ticket validity: Three months from issue.
A Kyushu Rail Pass has to be collected at one of the following exchange offices within 3 months from the date of issue. Passengers will need to have a valid paper or e-ticket and a valid passport with the entry status of "Temporary Visitor".
Exchange sites: Hakata Station; JR kyushu Travel Agency offices in Kokura, Hakata, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Oita, Kagoshima Chuo and Miyazaki stations; and the Beppu Station Travel Center.
* The Northern Kyushu Area Rail Pass is not available at JR Kyushu Travel Agency offices in Kagoshima Chuo or Miyazaki stations.

Making Seat Reservations
This pass does not guarantee the bearer a seat. Seat reservations may be made at Midori-no-Madoguchi or a JR Kyushu Travel Agency. Reservations are free, but must be made in advance.
